Lakota Trail

Many Native American tribes called the Black Hills home. In their historic timeline the Lakota people were the most recent to claim the lands. Tribes were nomadic and had no way to take water with them. They sought areas along creeks to set up camp, hunt, and have water for themselves and their animals. Wander the Lakota Trail. Imagine a serene teepee village along the Sundance Creek that winds through SWRP.

Sun Dance Trail Open Space

Native American tribes practiced a spiritual cleansing ritual called the Sun Dance on or near Sundance Mountain. Choose from the abundant game trails that lead you to clearings or hilltops. Look for rocks arranged in semi circles that possibly mark ancient ceremonial sites. Wander and conquer SWRP's diverse terrain; and remember, you can't get lost. When your adventure is done simply pick a trail and go downhill to reach the parking lot.

Butch & Sundance Trail Open Space

Butch & Sundance cleverly used game trails to escape capture by Sheriff Ryan and the Pinkerton detectives. Experience the Butch & Sundance Trail in the outlaw tradition. Find a game trail to go up then down, change directions, and switch trails often. Wander and conquer SWRP's diverse terrain; and remember, you can't get lost. When your adventure is done simply pick a trail and go downhill to reach the parking lot.

Outlaw Trail Open Space

Wander and conquer the abundant game trails that are cleared for biking, hiking and running. The adventurous will encounter diverse terrain ranging from easy rolling trails to steep inclines and technical transitions. Please practice multi-use trail etiquette.
